I initially wanted the model with a mop but accidentally bought this one. I decided to keep it and give it a try. I like it; it leaves the floor clean. The downside is that the hair from my Persian cats gets tangled in the rotating mechanisms, and my own hair, which is about 80cm long, also gets caught easily. However, it can be removed without any issues, and it continues to perform very well. I’ll provide an update if necessary.

This is our first experience with a robotic vacuum, and I was initially hesitant. However, after reading numerous positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. The setup was incredibly straightforward, the mapping process was seamless, and its performance is outstanding. We have both carpet and tile flooring. While it is slightly louder on the hard tile, it’s significantly quieter compared to my upright vacuum.
I recommend checking the onboard waste bin after it docks and empties. Ours collected a substantial amount of pet hair and was quite full. I empty it regularly to prevent clogs.
The vacuum navigates around furniture exceptionally well, but be sure to secure any loose electric cords. We restrict access to certain areas, although there’s likely an automatic way to set boundaries.
We have it scheduled to clean on specific days and times. It announces when it starts, when it’s emptying the dust bin, and when it’s charging.
The remote control app is user-friendly. I appreciate its intelligence; it changes cleaning patterns with each run, avoiding wear on the carpet. We haven’t encountered any issues, making it a worthwhile investment.

I created an account to use this robot and selected Mexico as my region. However, when I tried to use it in the app, this model didn’t appear in the device list, and when I managed to link it, I kept getting error codes 1020 or 21020. After several emails with support, they advised me to return it. Fortunately, I discovered that the solution was to set my account region to Canada or the USA. I then created a new account with the USA region, and the model appeared in the device list, allowing for a quick setup.

After years of using an earlier model Roomba, I found it more trouble than it was worth. Cleaning sessions required pre-tidying of rooms, setting up Light Barriers (and even suitcases) to define the cleaning area, and identifying and removing choking hazards beforehand. Many times, the Roomba would get interrupted by errors or attempt to clean areas beyond its capability. It frequently struggled to find its charging dock, and I had to empty and check it for tangles after every use.
I decided to try the Roborock model after noticing the advancements in technology. Here are the standout improvements:
Roborock has received excellent reviews, and the Q7 model stands out as a highly rated option at a competitive price. I’m definitely a fan.

When my 2-year-old Shark self-emptying robot vacuum suddenly stopped working, I knew I needed a replacement right away. Thankfully, I had purchased a 3-year warranty, which was applied to my Amazon account without any hassle. After three hours of research for the best vacuum-only (no mopping) model, I decided on this one. It is LIGHT YEARS ahead of my old model! I’m absolutely in love with it! The suction power is amazing, and it self-empties efficiently. It works quickly on my wood floors, and the accompanying app allows me to set up regular cleaning schedules and spot clean any room whenever I want. When I spot clean, hitting the x2 button makes it follow a cross-hatch pattern! The unit is large, holds plenty of debris, and is incredibly powerful. With five dogs and constant foot traffic, I finally have clean, vacuumed wood floors. It was a blessing in disguise when my old vacuum broke down. I even bought another 3-year warranty for this one, as it will be used at least twice daily. I love being able to start it via the app while at work and watching it clean extra spots on the map. The lidar scans the room before each cleaning, and the vacuum first does a perimeter clean before following its pattern. The battery life is impressive, and the two rubber roller bars don’t get tangled with fur or hair. The wide sweeper brush effectively picks up fur and dust along baseboards and edges. The tidy dust bag means no more clouds of dust and fur when I empty it into the garbage. I can’t recommend this vacuum highly enough! If you’re looking for a vacuum-only option, THIS IS THE ONE.

Hello, similar to Avalos’ review, I couldn’t activate this device with my Mexican account either, as this model isn’t available in our region. I had to create a new account and selected the USA as my region, and that did the trick.

So far, it has done an excellent job keeping my apartment dust-free. Its cleaning routes are well programmed, and it leaves no dust in the rooms it cleans. It has suitable default power, and you can adjust it up or down through the app. Additionally, you can schedule it or start it remotely via the app.

Update December 2024: I’m consistently encountering an Error 1 message, which seems related to a dirty or jammed Lidar turret that prevents it from swiveling properly (possibly due to hair or debris). I’ve cleaned it as thoroughly as possible, even using a handheld vacuum, but the error persists. This is a significant problem because Error 1 completely disables the vacuum.
I turned to YouTube for guidance on how to access and clean specific parts of the Roborock. I discovered that cleaning the Lidar turret is straightforward on all models prior to the Q5+. Older models allow easy access to the Lidar with just a few screws. Unfortunately, there are no tutorials for the Q5+ because its top cover cannot be removed! This has left me with a non-functional vacuum, and it feels like Roborock has adopted a ‘planned obsolescence’ strategy. I wouldn’t consider purchasing from them again unless they redesign their newer models to allow for better accessibility for cleaning.
After 1.5 years of use, I’m writing this in November 2024. I chose this vacuum in 2023 based on reviews highlighting its power for pet hair. While it is indeed a bit noisy, I completely agree that it performs exceptionally well, even with larger debris. I don’t mind the noise if it means effective cleaning.
I primarily use it on tile, and it excels, automatically ramping up suction on carpeted or thicker surfaces. Its suction power is so strong that it can suck up socks and even an entire phone charger! When that happens, it just enters a constant powerful mode, which serves as a reminder to check for blockages.
One issue I faced was in August/September 2024 when it suddenly lost internet connectivity and stopped working with the Roborock App without any warning or notification from the manufacturer. I tried every troubleshooting tip available online, but it wouldn’t connect to WiFi. Although it continued to run in manual mode, I couldn’t control it through the app or access any maps.
After reviewing the online manual, I discovered a mention of the Xiaomi Home app. I downloaded it, followed the prompts to add the Roborock, and to my surprise, it worked! My house map was saved there, too. For anyone with a Roborock Q5+ experiencing internet connectivity issues, this might be a useful tip! I just wish the company had communicated this update better.
Overall, I’ve had a great experience over the past 1.5 years. Occasionally, the mapping can be finicky, but it usually resolves itself after returning to the dock a few times. I purchased reusable dust bags with zippers to minimize waste and also bought replacement roller brushes and feeler brushes to have on hand when needed; both are easy to find on Amazon.
In summary, if they continue to improve the software and apps, the vacuum’s functionality should last a long time!

I was initially hesitant to make this purchase, having used several automated vacuums from another brand in the past. However, given that those models are five years old, it’s clear there have been significant technological advancements since then. I’m really impressed with the mapping feature, self-emptying capability, noise level, and the absence of fiber brushes on the bottom. My previous vacuums had fiber brushes that would get clogged with dog hair, requiring me to clean them daily. To my surprise, after a week of daily use, the dual fiberless brushes collected no dog hair and needed no maintenance! This vacuum is used in a 600 sq ft space with laminate floors and area rugs, and the room has never looked better! I’m extremely satisfied with this purchase and highly recommend it.
