I received my Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine yesterday. I unboxed it and was cleaning my carpets within 15 minutes. I was so thrilled with this product that I had to write my review before finishing all the cleaning.
Before purchasing, I did extensive research. Amazon knows me well and had this item on a blitz sale, so I grabbed it immediately. Now that I’ve used it, I’d gladly pay full price, although I’m happy with the discount. It arrived pre-assembled. The handle folds down for easy storage, and once I pulled it out (it weighs about 45 lbs.), I set it up by emptying the dirty water tank and reading the instructions.
With four pets—two dogs (one senior) and two cats—our carpets have seen several accidents, especially in one neglected area. Since we’re hosting Christmas this year, I knew I needed a new cleaner. Our main level carpet was just dirty, with a spot from a Christmas tree incident where old water spilled. I thought there was no hope for that stain after a cleaning company’s failed attempt. The before and after photos I took show that it completely removed the stain, leaving the carpet looking like new.
I followed tips from other reviews for tackling the pet stains. First, I vacuumed every inch of the area to be cleaned. Then I ran the machine over the carpet once without solution to wet it, which I heard helps with cleaning. After that, I added the solution and tackled the carpet. First, it cleans better than any professional service I’ve used—I wouldn’t go back to renting. Although it weighs around 45 lbs., it’s easy to maneuver. It cleans in both directions, so I took my time over heavily soiled spots, making multiple passes (usually four). The water I emptied was extremely dirty, and I pulled out several handfuls of pet hair from the sink strainer and the machine itself. No matter how well you vacuum, you’ll always pick up more pet hair.
The suction is outstanding. When not dispensing soap, it acts like a wet/dry vac, removing excess water from the carpet. The carpets dried much faster than those cleaned with professional machines. The fresh and dirty water containers are easy to remove and replace. Overall, this is one of the best-designed and most effective machines I’ve ever used.
The only downside? I told my mom about it, and now she wants me to come over and clean her carpets!
